Abbie Burke

abbieburkesquareheadshotAbbie Burke has been a part of the FOX21 News Team off and on since 2008. From intern, to editor, to news producer, reporter and now anchor, Abbie has done it all. She even filled in for a few months in the weather department! Abbie left FOX21 for a short period of time in 2012 to work at WLKY in Louisville, Kentucky, but Colorado called her home. She also explored a different career as the Public Information Officer for Colorado Parks and Wildlife from 2013-2015. While it was a great experience, Abbie says she knows the news is where she belongs.

Abbie anchors the 5 p.m. evening show every weeknight and also reports for the 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts. She’s excited to be back at FOX21 and plans to be here for a long time to come.

During her time at FOX21, Abbie has covered both the Waldo Canyon and Black Forest Fires, the capture of the Dougherty gang, the trial of former police officer Josh Carrier and the death of tow truck driver Allen Rose. While always eager to deliver the latest information, Abbie also enjoys covering stories that inspire, inform and build community. Abbie’s reporting and producing has earned her awards from the Colorado Associated Press Broadcasters Association and the Colorado Broadcasters Association.

Originally from back east, Abbie graduated from Penn State University and while she’ll always consider herself a country girl from Pennsylvania, she’s quickly adapted to the mountains and loves calling Colorado home.

Abbie volunteers with Special Kids Special Families and is a graduate of the LeadershipNOW class of 2015. She is also a board member for the Friends of Cheyenne Mountain State Park. When not at work you can find Abbie skiing, exploring a hiking trail, watching football or attempting some type of craft project.
