2 boys arrested for attempted murder in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Police have arrested two boys in connection with an incident where shots were fired in Colorado Springs early Sunday.

It happened just before 3 a.m. in the area of Jet Wing Drive and S. Chelton Road.

Police say the victim was driving in the area when a white SUV passed him. Shortly afterward, the victim’s car window was broken, which he said was the result of someone inside the white SUV throwing something at his car.

The victim tried to get closer to take down the suspect’s license plate number, but as soon as he did that, shots were fired from the suspect vehicle at the victim. Police say the shots narrowly missed the victim. Several of his car windows were shattered and he was able to pull over.

Police were able to link another reported stolen vehicle to the suspect. While they were following up on that, they located the teen driver. Police say further investigation identified another teen in the suspect vehicle as the shooter.

That gun was reported stolen, according to authorities.

Both suspects were arrested for Attempted First Degree Murder and Possession of a Handgun by a Juvenile.
