TELLER COUNTY, Colo. — A woman who fell while skiing on a trail near Glen Cove on Pikes Peak with her family Sunday has died from her injuries.

Authorities say 48-year-old Rachel Dewey of Colorado Springs was skiing with her husband and three children on the Little Italy Couloir when the accident happened.

Commander Mark Morlock with the Teller County Sheriff’s Office says Dewey lost control and fell about 1,000 feet.

Her family stayed with her until first responders arrived.

According to her husband, Grant Dewey, Rachel was an advanced skier.

An autopsy is scheduled for later this week.
