Southern Colorado finally gets enough snow to play in

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Most of southern Colorado woke up to snow Saturday, December 17, making many of us say, ‘finally.’

FOX21 went to Manitou Springs to see who was out braving the cold.

“I’m really happy to see the snow.” Yvette Duncan said, “I love the chill. I love the way the mountains look. I love watching it fall.”

“I think this is a good amount of snow. Not so much that it’s blocking up everything,” said Sean Lord.

Both Duncan and Lord were hitting the streets of Manitou to do some last minute Christmas shopping and they weren’t the only ones.

“Christmas time, people always come around and in Colorado you’ve always got to brave the snow whether it’s here or whether it’s not so you just deal with it,” said Lord.

If you’re complaining about the snow now just remember it’s crucial come warmer months.

Lord said, “Snow is always a nice a friend. I’m glad we get some because if we don’t get any snow then we get really dry springs and summers.”

But those who have been patiently anticipating a measurable dump of snow are saying….

“It was worth the wait,” said Duncan.
