PUEBLO, Colo. — One person has been arrested and two others are wanted for trying to set two patrol cars on fire and then leading officers on a chase Tuesday night.

Police said Tuesday night, a deputy was investigating a report that a car had been stolen from a home on Highway 96. The deputy learned the car had been found at a home on Denver Boulevard in Pueblo.

When deputies went to the home, they found two stolen cars. While they were investigating, three people in a dark-colored SUV drove by, threw an unknown accelerant, and started a fire on the street near two patrol cars. The fire damaged one of the cars.

Police chased the SUV as it sped eastbound on 29th Street and wound through several neighborhoods on the north side and downtown. The chase continued onto northbound Interstate 25, where the driver lost control and went off the right side of the road. The SUV came to a stop on the railroad tracks near the off-ramp to the Highway 50 Bypass. Three people got out of the SUV and ran.

One of the suspects, 34-year-old Raul Salinas, was arrested a short time later. He is charged with auto theft.

Police are still looking for the other two suspects.

Police said the SUV had been reported stolen, and they found drugs, guns, cash, and other stolen items inside.

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call Pueblo Crime Stoppers at 719-542-STOP (7867).
