Colorado Springs police looking for man who sexually assaulted developmentally delayed woman in July

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Police are looking for the man who they say sexually assaulted a developmentally delayed woman in central Colorado Springs in July.

The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. July 28, the night of the big hailstorm. Police said the victim walked from her apartment on South Chelton Road to a business on South Academy Boulevard. While she was standing outside the business, a man drove up in a car. The man took the victim to a nearby apartment and sexually assaulted her, according to police. He then dropped her off at a business on North Academy Boulevard near Maizeland Road.

Police have been investigating the crime since it happened, but have not yet identified the suspect.

The suspect is described as a dark-skinned black man, about 6 feet tall, with a medium build. He may have had a beard. He was driving a black four-door sedan.

Surveillance cameras captured an image of a car matching the description of the suspect’s car. That image is available above. Police said they don’t know if this was the vehicle used in the assault.
