Colorado Springs teen hikers found alive after two days missing on Mount of the Holy Cross

EAGLE COUNTY, Colo. — Authorities say two teenage hikers reported missing Tuesday afternoon have been found safe and in good health.

The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office said both hikers were located and extracted from the Mount of the Holy Cross.

The two hikers, both 18-years-old and from Colorado Springs, first went up the Mount of the Holy Cross Monday night around 7 p.m. Both were known to have hiking experience and were considered to be reasonably prepared for the hike.

Family members reported them missing Tuesday afternoon after they were unable to make contact with the teens.

A ground search began with the assistance of several supporting agencies, including the Vail Mountain Rescue Group, Flight for Life and the High-Altitude Army National Guard Aviation Training Site.

The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office announced the safe return of both teens around 4 p.m. Wednesday.
