Crash causes big backups on I-25 in southern Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A crash involving a dump truck and an SUV is causing big backups on northbound Interstate 25 in southern Colorado Springs.

The crash happened just before 1 p.m. on northbound Interstate 25 at Cimarron Street. The two crashed vehicles and a truckload of sand are blocking the right and center lanes of the interstate.

Officials estimate the crash will be cleaned up by 3 p.m.

Maps show northbound traffic backed up to the MLK Bypass interchange.

Officials said one person sustained minor injuries in the crash. There’s no word on what caused it.
