Suspected car thief arrested after driving past scene of crime

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A car theft suspect was arrested Friday morning after he drove past the scene of the crime while officers were investigating, according to police.

Police said around 5 a.m., they got a call from an Old North End resident. The resident had been warming up the car and went inside to get something. When the resident came back, the car was gone.

Less than an hour later, an officer was in the area writing a police report when the suspect drove past in the stolen car. When the suspect saw the officer, he crashed the car in an attempt to lose sight of the officer.

The suspect, Nathan Nulle, was arrested without further incident, according to police.

Police said this was just one of four cars stolen while they were left running Friday morning in Colorado Springs. Police remind residents that “puffing,” or leaving a running car unattended, is illegal. Remote starts are an exception.
