COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — It’s that time of year again! The ice skating rink at Acacia Park is set to open just in time for the holiday season.

Skate in the Park, the only outdoor rink in the area, is located on the west side of Acacia Park at 115 East Platte Avenue in the center of downtown Colorado Springs.

It will be open 7 days a week from November 18 until January 16, 2017.

The grand opening Friday will kick off with free public skating from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. for all ages.

Activities continue throughout the weekend.

Saturday, November 19 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. activities include short holiday movies, ornament making, free photos and a giant tree lighting at 5:30 p.m. with a serenade by the Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale.

On Sunday, November 20 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. you can bring a turkey and get a chance to bowl on ice for charity. All turkeys will be donated to the Marion House Soup Kitchen, Springs Rescue Mission and Care and Share.

Additional special events include skating opportunities with members of the Colorado College Tigers hockey team, the Air Force Falcons hockey team and Colorado Springs Switchbacks team.

There will also be a family skate day and Bronco’s Pride day offering discounted admission (dates TBA).

Admission is $10 per skater and includes skate rental. Children under age 4 are free with a paid adult. Bring your military ID and get a $1 off discount.
