Supermoon will be the biggest of the 21st century

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — When the sun sets Sunday night, you may want to take a moment and look to the east, where you’ll be able to see the second of three consecutive supermoons.

The term “supermoon” was first coined in 1979 to describe a full moon within 10 percent of perigree – and tonight’s supermoon will be the biggest of the 21st century.

Meteorologist Dee Cortez sat down with two astronomers to find out why.
