COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Police are investigating a car crash Saturday morning.

It happened around 4 a.m. in the 7200 block of Commerce Center Drive.

Police say the vehicle was traveling south on Commerce Center Drive and hit a power pole after failing to negotiate a curve.

According to authorities, the pole was removed from its base, causing live power lines to fall on the street and vehicle.

The driver, identified as Carolyn Richardson, was removed from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital with injuries.

The accident caused the closure of Commerce Center Drive until Colorado Springs Utilities could remove the pole and lines from the road.

Police say speed and alcohol are suspected factors in this accident.
