Suspect hospitalized after police chase in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A suspect was taken to the hospital after a police chase in Colorado Springs.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said a man in a trailer park on West Colorado Avenue in Old Colorado City was honking his horn, yelling out of his window and driving erratically.

A sheriff’s deputy saw him and tried to make the stop, but the suspect took off. Attempts to use spikes and other maneuvers were unsuccessful.

The suspect’s tire finally blew when he tried to jump a concrete barrier. Police were then able to stop his car near Jetwing and Hancock. The suspect surrendered.

We’re told shots were fired during the chase, but there were no injuries.
