Election Day paid holiday for some employees

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Election Day will be a paid holiday for thousands of workers across the U.S. this year.

General Motors, Ford, Square and several others made the decision to give their employees the day off.

Ford sent an email to workers telling them “Every vote counts.”

Outdoor clothing company Patagonia is closing all of its retail stores and their headquarters Tuesday.

There is no federal law requiring workers to get time off to vote.
