Senator Bernie Sanders in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Senator Bernie Sanders was in Colorado Springs Saturday stumping for Hillary Clinton.

He said this election goes way beyond the people we’re voting for.

“You don’t like Hillary Clinton, you don’t like Donald Trump, fine, but look at the issues and ask yourself which candidate is going to work for the middle class and the working class of this country,” said Sanders.

One of those issues is jobs.

“Hillary Clinton believes we should make massive investments in rebuilding our infrastructure and put millions of people to work doing that,” said Sanders.

He said another major issue is the environment; with Clinton believing in climate change while Trump does not.

“I wish I could tell you this was a laughing matter. It is not a laughing matter. In fact, the future of the planet rests on how we act and act right now. We’re too late. We’ve got to get moving very quickly and that means that we need a president like Secretary Clinton who is going to invest heavily in sustainable energy,” said Sanders.

He says Colorado is vital to the election.

“It could well be that the candidate who wins Colorado and the electoral votes here will become the President of the United States,” said Sanders.

He said it goes beyond that.

“You are the future of this country. That if you are prepared to exercise your democratic rights, not just by voting, but by standing up and fighting for social, economic, racial, and environmental justice, you can change the world,” said Sanders.
