Meth lab discovered in home near downtown Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Police have arrested two men after discovering a small meth lab inside a home Friday night.

It happened just before 7 p.m. in the 600 block of East Boulder Street, near Wahsatch Avenue and North El Paso Street.

Police say they were following up on a reported shooting from the night before when they contacted multiple individuals inside the home and discovered a small meth lab / precursors in one of the rooms along with a small amount of methamphetamine.

According to authorities, the house was evacuated and the Metro Vice and Narcotics Unit along with Hazmat Units from both CSFD and El Paso County responded.

Police arrested 56-year-old Genepeloes Johnson and 19-year-old David Ponti on unrelated felony warrants.

Officials say there is currently no danger to the neighborhood.

The investigation is ongoing.
