Police investigating serious car crash in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The intersection of Pikes Peak Avenue and North Hancock Avenue has reopened after a serious car crash Saturday.
Police say it happened just before 2 a.m. when a car traveling eastbound on Pikes Peak Avenue collided with a pickup truck traveling northbound on Hancock Avenue.
The driver of the pickup truck was transported to a local hospital and treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the car, identified as 26-year-old Saudah Hawkins, was arrested for vehicular assault and other traffic charges, according to authorities.
Officials say alcohol was a factor in the accident.
The intersection was closed for over 6 hours as police investigated.
