Woman cited for crashing into Colorado Springs fire truck

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A woman was cited for crashing into a Colorado Springs fire truck that was on its way to a call Wednesday morning.

Police said the crash happened around 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Platte Avenue and Circle Drive. The fire truck was on its way to investigate an alarm at the Citadel Mall, and had its lights and sirens on. The truck was making a right turn onto eastbound Platte Avenue from the northbound right through lane of Circle Drive. As the truck turned, it was hit by a Ford Focus that had been stopped in the right turn lane. Police said the Focus pulled forward and hit the side of the truck.

The fire truck sustained minor damage. Police said no one was injured.

The driver of the Focus was cited for failing to yield the right-of-way to an emergency vehicle, license for drivers required, and compulsory insurance.
