Peterson Air Force Base hosts annual Military Retiree Information Day

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Nearly a thousand military retirees from across the Front Range were at Peterson Air Force Base on Saturday to get some important information about personal health.

The annual event provides free services including wellness and dental checkups along with vaccinations.

A total of 45 different agencies also provided services and information for retirees on things like medical needs, finance and insurance programs.

“This year we called it an information day because we wanted to do presentations about different things going on that affects the retirees so that way they had a chance to do the information tables,” said Colonel Bob Koenig, a retired USAF. “They had a chance to hear the presentations and they also had a chance to get their flu shot.”

The Peterson Retiree Office estimates there are roughly 40,000 military retirees living in southern Colorado.
