Two arrested after car chase in southwestern Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Police have arrested two people Friday after a car chase in the southwestern part of Colorado Springs.

It happened just after 4 p.m. in the area of Star Ranch and Highway 115.

Police say the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Jesse Camarena, was wanted on several felony warrants including a parole violation warrant out of California.

Officers followed Camarena until he parked in the area of Brookside and Nevada and attempted to block him in.

Police say Camarena then rammed his way out and attempted to strike an officer.

A car chase began southbound on Highway 115 and Star Ranch. At the intersection, police say Camarena attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by officers.

One of the officers was transported to the hospital for an injury sustained during the tactical vehicle intervention.

No other injuries were reported.
