SECURITY-WIDEFIELD, Colo. — One of the suspects involved in the homicide of a woman in Security Saturday night was killed in an officer-involved shooting early Sunday. The other suspect is in custody.

Officers responded to a call regarding a shooting just after 11 p.m. in the 4900 block of Brant Road in the Security area southeast of Colorado Springs.

At the scene, they found a woman with gunshot wounds. Police say she was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

An alert was issued to the public to be on the lookout for the suspects, brothers 40-year-old Demetrius Mac Moore and 32-year-old Daniel Lee Moore, who police say were considered armed and dangerous.

Emergency units on scene provided advanced life support to the suspect but were unsuccessful. The suspect’s identity has yet to be released.

Police say the suspect’s handgun was recovered at the scene.

The other suspect was found on Chelton Road and was taken into custody.

Officials said Sunday morning the shooting had been upgraded to a homicide.

The investigation is ongoing. Authorities say there is no danger to the public at this time.
