Man arrested after leading police on chase in southern Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A man was arrested after he led officers on a chase in southern Colorado Springs Wednesday, according to police.

Police said around 7:45 p.m., they got a call about a possible car break-in at the Safeway on South Nevada Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a potential suspect, 32-year-old Joshua Dunlap. As police were talking with Dunlap, he took off running. The officers chased him and arrested him after a short struggle.

Police determined Dunlap had run because he had a felony warrant for his arrest, and had lied about his name.

Police said Dunlap is charged with attempting to influence a public servant, criminal impersonation, and resisting arrest, in addition to the original warrant.

Police said they haven’t found evidence that a car was actually broken into.
