Jenkins Middle School students learning leadership skills in new class

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Students are learning leadership skills in a new class at Jenkins Middle School.

The class is offered to all grade levels. It teaches public speaking, setting goals, how to work in teams, and even how to give a proper handshake.

One parent said she’s already seen a huge difference in her son’s behavior and confidence.

“He isn’t as glued to his phone,” Tara Rose said. “He wants to be personable. He wants to be having conversations with other people and asking them. That was huge before, because even with family members, he wouldn’t have interest with them.”

Teachers said this will encourage students to carry the skills they learn now into their adult lives.
