COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A Colorado Springs funeral business’ license is suspended after two people involved with the business were accused of abusing a corpse.

Acumen Funeral Home’s license was granted on July 22. The Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies suspended it Wednesday.

“This action immediately stops Acumen Funeral Home from performing services as a funeral establishment in Colorado and is the most aggressive immediate action available to the Division of Professions and Occupations against this license,” the department said in a statement.

Earlier this month, 34-year-old Craig Ryan Brown and 52-year-old J. Timothy Brown were arrested on multiple charges after human remains were found in a Colorado Springs garage. Both suspects are listed as funeral directors on Acumen’s license. When police went to two addresses that were listed for the business, they found private homes and no indication of a business at either location.

Timothy is set to appear in court on November 15. A court date for Craig was not immediately available.
