COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Boo at the Zoo attracts 17,000 people ever year.

It’s a way for people to celebrate Halloween with animals.

“We’re a zoo that does not receive a dime of tax support, so events like Boo at the Zoo help keep the zoo running. So, we’re always really grateful for all of the pirates and princesses that come out to see us during Boo at the Zoo,” said Erica Meyer, public relations manager at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.

The zoo has been prepping for one of their biggest events, and this year’s Boo at the Zoo will be bigger and better.

“It actually takes an entire zoo to put on Boo at the Zoo. Every single department has a hand in making this a bootastic event, everything from our animal department, our animal keepers, our maintenance staff, our horticulture staff, even our IT staff, everybody gets in on the act,” Meyer said.

Wednesday the zoo built their haunted fun house complete with skeletons, lights, witches and spiders.

“More twists and turns and spooktacular opportunities to have fun,” Meyer said.

We can’t forget the candy – more than 9,000 pounds of it.

“And then of course see lots of animals like Fred here, who you can see in the loft,” Meyer said.

People can also visit a lighted pumpkin patch and a ghoulish graveyard.

The fun starts Friday, October 21 through Sunday, October 23 and again the next weekend from the October 28 through October 31.

You can buy tickets at the night of each event at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.
