WESTCLIFFE, Colo. — The Junkins Fire has burned multiple homes and forced hundreds of people in Custer and Pueblo counties to evacuate. Here’s how to help people affected by the fire.

Adventist Community Services Disaster Response is collecting food, drinks, clothing, and sanitary items for people affected by the fire. Donations may be dropped off from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily at the Colorado Building at the Colorado State Fairgrounds, inside Gate 9. Call (719) 248-3799 or (719) 248-8098 for more information.

First State Bank of Colorado – Westcliffe Branch is accepting monetary donations. The fund was set up by the Wet Mountain Fire Ladies Auxiliary.

The Custer County Share Center on North Third Street in Westcliffe is accepting donations of non-perishable groceries, such as bread and candy bars.

The team caring for large animals at the Colorado State Fairgrounds needs wood shavings for animal bedding.
