Chapel Hills Mall will be closed on Thanksgiving

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Chapel Hills Mall in Colorado Springs will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.

The mall’s management company, CBL & Associates Properties, Inc., made the announcement Wednesday. All 89 of the company’s malls nationwide will be closed on Thanksgiving.

Department stores, movie theaters, and stores with outside entrances will be allowed to open on Thanksgiving, but access to mall common areas will be closed.

The mall will open at 6 a.m. on Black Friday.

The announcement comes after the Mall of America, the nation’s largest shopping mall, announced it would be closed on Thanksgiving.

Office supplies retailer Staples announced last month that it will close for the second year in a row. High-end stores like Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue have remained closed on that day.

Many of the major retailers and malls have not yet made their plans for the Thanksgiving weekend season public.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
