PUEBLO, Colo. — Pueblo police officers shot a man who tried to run them over in a Kohl’s parking lot Monday night, according to the police department.

It happened around 7:30 p.m. at the store on North Elizabeth Street. Police were called to the store to investigate a shoplifting/trespass. When they arrived, they saw an occupied stolen car parked in front of the store. As they were blocking the car in, the driver tried to run over one of the officers, according to police.

Officers fired shots and hit the driver. He was hospitalized for his injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
