Couple exchanges vows in flooded streets of North Carolina

WILMINGTON, N.C. — A couple from Illinois has said their “I do’s” during Hurricane Matthew.

Mandi and Michael Derr had planned their wedding on Bald Head Island, North Carolina but they were told Wednesday the event had to be cancelled because of the hurricane.

The couple decided to move the wedding to nearby Wilmington, and they exchanged their vows as the city was being flooded Saturday.

The rain stopped during their reception and the entire wedding party went out into the flooded streets to celebrate.

Mandi said she doesn’t see the storm as a bad thing on her wedding day.

Her take on it all is that she and Michael can work together and solve a problem, event through the roughest of storms.
