Creepy clown threats make their way to Colorado Springs, one teen arrested

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Colorado Springs police have arrested a teen after he posted messages on social media mimicking a national trend of clowns threatening to terrorize schools through online accounts.

The 15-year-old, who is an unidentified District 20 high school student, now faces misdemeanor charges of interference with an educational institution.

Security was heightened at Rampart High School last week after a clown account on Instagram posted a picture directed to students there.

School officials determined the threat was not credible.

Over the past week, we’ve received a few messages from students attending various local schools who have seen these threats on social media.
