COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Sammy’s Milk baby food is being recalled over concerns it may contain a potentially deadly bacteria.

The recalled product pertains to all lot numbers with expiration dates of November 2016 to August 2018, distributed in California to Mother’s Markets retailers and online.

The FDA found the baby food – made by Graceleigh, Inc. – had inadequate levels of iron. Although the product meets the FDA’s minimum requirement for iron content, there is no label warning that it contains low iron.

Officials say the bacteria can cause severe and sometimes fatal blood infections or meningitis in infants.

Consumers should return the product for a refund.
