Armed suspect arrested after standoff outside his Falcon home

FALCON, Colo. — A man has been arrested after a reported domestic disturbance that led to a brief standoff with Colorado Springs police officers Friday night.

Police responded to a call around 10 p.m. regarding a domestic disturbance between a husband and wife at Bubba’s 33 located at 5807 Constitution Avenue.

At the scene they found the couple’s three children and were informed that the suspect had fled the area with two of the children, leaving his wife and other child behind.
Police escorted the woman back to the shared residence in Falcon, where they found the suspect’s vehicle parked at the residence.
Police say the woman was locked out of the home and the suspect would not come to the door.
When officers tried to enter through the back door of the house, police say the suspect appeared and pointed a handgun at them through the glass door. Both officers and the woman retreated a safe distance and contained the house.
Police say the armed suspect reemerged on the front porch and after a brief standoff put down his weapon.
According to authorities, the suspect, later identified as Donald Thurnherr, was extremely hostile and refused commands to walk away from the porch.
He was subdued through the use of a taser and was taken into custody.
No officers were injured.
