Two arrested after running from crash in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Two people were arrested after they crashed their car and then ran from the scene Wednesday morning, according to police.

The multi-car crash happened just before 11 a.m. at the intersection of Platte Avenue and Circle Drive. Witnesses saw a man and woman get out of one of the cars and run away.

When officers arrived, they detained the man. He initially lied to officers about who he was, according to police. They identified him as 21-year-old Avery Aashiq, who was wanted on five felony and two misdemeanor warrants. Aashiq was taken to the hospital for a medical clearance, then taken back to the police station.

On the way to the station, the officer drove through the area where Aashiq had been arrested. He spotted the woman who had run from the crash, stopped, and took her into custody. She was identified as Kylee Sales, 24. Police said she was wanted on five felony and five misdemeanor warrants.

Inside the car Sales was driving, officers found 3.3 grams of meth, along with fraudulent credit cards, ID cards, social security cards, and an uncashed check.

Both suspects face new charges in addition to the warrants.
