COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Voters packed into the Hillside Community Center to see Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence speak on Thursday afternoon.

“He’s not Hillary Clinton, and the biggest reason is our defense has really gone downhill. We don’t have a defense department anymore. We have a bunch of ‘yes’ people and we need a better defense,” said Larry McMaster, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Pence discussed his feelings towards President Barack Obama’s administration.

“I truly do believe that the policies of this administration have made America less safe and the world less secure. We live in a time of a widening fight of an enemy. An enemy in radial Islamic terrorism and an enemy in an Isis Caliphated,” Pence said.

Pence reached out to the crowd, talking about law enforcement, the economy, and Obamacare, ensuring Trump is the best option for America.

One supporter said he believes Trump’s new campaign manager has been beneficial to the campaign.

“I think the problem we’ve seen with Donald Trump is that he started out a little bit bombastic, a little more controversial,” said John Wojnaroski, who was at the town hall with his wife.

“We have probably the most bold truth teller ever to run for president of the United States, running against the most dishonest person ever to seek the presidency in our history,” Pence said.
