Police arrest two suspects in Gold Camp Road carjacking

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Two people have been arrested in connection with a carjacking on Gold Camp Road early Sunday morning.

The robbery happened just before 3 a.m. Sunday. Two suspects wearing masks and carrying guns walked up to a 2006 Mazda 3, opened the doors, told the occupants to get out, and drove off in the car.

Around 9:30 a.m. Monday, officers found the stolen car parked on Copper Springs View, which is just off Airport Road. Police put the car under surveillance, and around 11 a.m. Tuesday, it started moving. Police followed the car to the Kum & Go on North Chestnut Street. Two people got out and were arrested without incident.

The driver, 30-year-old Jarod Robertson, was arrested on charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated motor vehicle theft, and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.

The passenger, 21-year-old Keila Larts, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminal trespass.

The stolen car was returned to its owner.
