COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Police say alcohol is believed to be a factor in a two-car collision Wednesday morning that claimed the life of one person.

It happened around shortly after midnight at the intersection of East Constitution Avenue and North Powers Boulevard.

Officers on scene said they found three occupants in the two vehicles that all needed to be extricated.

All three were transported to local hospitals for injuries sustained during the collision.

One passenger, 18-year-old Yarrow Starbeck, died from her injuries while the other two parties were admitted for serious injuries.

An autopsy performed by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office determined Starbeck died as a result of blunt force injuries suffered during the collision.

The identities of the drivers are being withheld pending the outcome of the investigation.

Police say alcohol is believed to be a factor in this collision.

No arrests have been made at this time; the investigation is ongoing.

Starbeck is the city’s 18th traffic-related fatality this year.
