Driver cited after hitting 8-year-old student near Stratton Meadows Elementary

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A driver has been cited for careless driving after hitting an 8-year-old student near Stratton Meadows Elementary School Monday.

It happened shortly before 4 p.m. in the 600 block of Brookshire Avenue.

Police say the 8-year-old was using the crosswalk to cross the street. A truck stopped to let the child pass but the driver behind the truck passed it using the middle lane, striking the child.

The child was transported to a local hospital and was treated for non-serious injuries.

The driver, 37-year-old April Price, was ticketed for careless driving resulting in bodily injury and driving while license-restrained.
