COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — It may still be September, but Woodland Park celebrated Oktoberfest this weekend.

“We do things with a Rocky Mountain twist up here,” said Debbie Miller, President of the Greater Woodland Park Chamber of Commerce. “We have two stages of entertainment. We have German entertainment and then we have rock and roll, country and jazz.”

“It’s been a lot of fun so far,” Shawn Erickson, who attended the event, said. “Good music, good beer, and good people so far that I’ve met. I’ve enjoyed it a lot.”

In some parts of the world Oktoberfest isn’t exactly kid-friendly, but this one is welcome to all ages.

Ezra Phillips and Chase Martin came to volunteer but they say they had a good time.

“There’s rock climbing over there with a bouncy house and everything where you can jump on,” said Phillips.

But it’s not Oktoberfest without some good grub, and it’s not all German food.

“This is all natural, all Jamaican straight up flavor, everything is all Jamaican,” said Everton Cameron, owner of High Grade Food Truck.

Plenty of brats and other delicacies were on hand, along with lots of cold beer.

“This right here is the Oktoberfest, Red Baron Oktoberfest by Bristol Brewing Company, delicious beer,” Erickson said.

Events like this keeping folks coming back to enjoy Woodland Park.

“We have people from all over the Front Range that come in,” said Miller. “We’ve talked to a ton of people from Colorado Springs. We’re bringing people up from Pueblo down to Castle Rock and certainly out in Park County as well.”

“For some reason the grass in Woodland Park is greener than anywhere else,” Erickson said.
