Police arrest “armed and dangerous” suspect after search

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Police have now arrested a suspect they called armed and dangerous on Friday.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office was looking for 31-year-old Christopher Lee Liles, a suspect sought in several burglaries in the Palmer Lake area.

An emergency alert message was sent out to residents in the area of Powers Boulevard, South Carefree Circle, Palmer Park Boulevard, and Murray Boulevard just before 3 p.m. Friday.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said they encountered Liles around 1 p.m. Friday while executing a search warrant on Whip Trail. He then led police on a chase in a stolen car. Liles then crashed the stolen vehicle near the intersection of Constitution Avenue and Murray Boulevard and ran, according to deputies.

During the search for Liles, police were involved in a shooting. They have not yet said who opened fire, or if anyone was injured.
