Colorado Springs police K9 finds domestic violence suspect hiding in closet

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A Colorado Springs police K9 helped find a domestic violence suspect who was hiding in a closet Thursday night.

Police said around 11 p.m., they got a call about an assault at a home on University Drive near Pikes Peak Avenue. They learned the suspect was hiding inside the home, trying to avoid being arrested for an outstanding felony warrant.

Police went to the home and told the suspect to surrender, but he refused. Officers then sent K9 Dax to search the home. Dax found the suspect hiding in a closet.

The suspect was treated for minor injuries from the K9 contact, then taken to jail.
