PUEBLO, Colo. — Pueblo police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened early Thursday morning.

“I heard two faint gunshots and then I heard two loud bangs afterwards,” said Tiffany Davis, who lives nearby.

Police said shots rang out before 5 a.m. on O’Neal Avenue near the Pueblo Village Apartments.

One person is dead and another was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

“It was shocking seeing a gentleman that we knew laying on the ground, unconscious and gone,” Davis said.

Police are now searching for two cars that were seen leaving the area at the time of the shooting. Witnesses said a silver car with tinted windows and a dark-colored sedan left the scene.

“They had kids and stuff, but I’m not too sure what happened because I noticed the kids went running with another adult and I’m not too sure if that was the adult that was injured,” Davis said.

Police said the shooting does not appear to be random. They haven’t yet determined if it was gang-related.
