Starwood Fire reaches 60 percent containment

LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — Firefighters are working to contain the Starwood Fire burning in northern Larimer County.

The fire broke out just before noon Sunday after officials received reports of smoke east of 1000 North County Road 59 and north of 80C (Cherokee Park Road), the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office said.

As of Tuesday evening, the fire was at 350 acres and 60 percent contained.

The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office said roadblocks are scheduled to be lifted at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Mandatory evacuation orders were given for 30 homes in the Mill Creek subdivision, and on the east side of County Road 59 between 80C and the Colorado-Wyoming border, the sheriff’s office said.

Forty-three contacts in the Mill Creek subdivision have received evacuation notices, the sheriff’s office said.

Officials said 30 structures threatened by the fire, but there have been no reports of damage or injuries.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
