Dubai opens world’s biggest indoor theme park

Dubai has just opened the world’s biggest indoor theme park, and it’s banking on big thrills to boost tourism.

This is the city’s newest amusement park, IMG Worlds of Adventure – a 1.5 million square-foot indoor theme park, billed as the world’s largest.

The privately-owned park cost over $1 billion and took three years to build.

The centerpiece roller coaster is so big that it can’t fit under one roof – it shoots riders from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 2.5 seconds.

But this isn’t the only big player in town – government-owned Dubai Parks and Resorts is set to open a massive $3.5 billion development later this year.

Berlin says Dubai’s parks could receive 18 million visitors by 2020 and may one day compete with Orlando.
