Man wanted in Georgia arrested in Springs in multi-agency drug bust

Felipe Hurtado was arrested Thursday for a crime he allegedly committed in Georgia back in 2014.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. –  More than 500 marijuana plants were seized Thursday and a man who has been on the run for years arrested in a multi-agency drug bust.
On August 18, detectives from the Colorado Springs Metro Vice, Narcotics and Intelligence Division, along with detectives from the Colorado Springs Police Department, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, the Teller County Sheriff’s Office and the Woodland Park Police Department, assisted members of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and a member of Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) with three separate search warrants, regarding illegal residential marijuana grows.
Two of the search warrants were executed within the City of Colorado Springs and one was in unincorporated El Paso County.
Items seized during the searches included approximately 537 marijuana plants, three firearms, ammunition and an undetermined of U.S. currency.
During the execution of the search warrants the GBI arrested Felipe Hurtado for six outstanding felony warrants from the State of Georgia. He is facing multiple charges including three counts of cargo theft, one count of possession of tools for the commission of a crime, one count of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and one count of trafficking in controlled substances. Officials said all charges are related to the theft of a shipment of approximately 8.9 million hydrocodone tablets in Cartersville, Georgia which occurred back in July 2014.
Police said Hurtado relocated to the general area of Colorado Springs and began to grow marijuana under the pretext of medical marijuana.
