Team USA heads to Paralympics in Rio

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The U.S. Paralympics team gathered at the Olympic Training Center on Wednesday for a big send off as they head to Rio for the Olympics.

As the Rio Games wind down this weekend, these athletes are gearing up for their own competition.

There was a meet and greet session with the athletes as well as time for autographs.

Allison Jones, a Paralympic cyclist from Colorado Springs, said she’s ready for the upcoming events.

“It’s amazing, it’s my backyard.. growing up.. so I left here for a few years and I wasn’t far from home, so it was great seeing friends and family,” Jones said. “You have a lot of community here, lots of support.”

The athletes will be leaving for Rio this weekend.
