Drug trafficker arrested in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Police have arrested a man who attempted to traffic 10 to 20 pounds of marijuana from Colorado Springs to Florida.
Authorities received two separate anonymous tips regarding a man identified as 27-year-old Manuel Menendez trying to traffic marijuana back to his home state of Florida.
Metro Vice, Narcotics and Intelligence Division detectives responded to the Rodeway Inn located at 520 North Murray Boulevard on Saturday around 11 p.m. where Menendez was staying.
Police found his car there and with the help of a K9 Officer, they conducted a sniff on the car and got a positive hit on the trunk.
Officers contacted Menendez, a prior felon, at his door intoxicated and armed with a gun in his waistband. He was taken into custody for prohibited use of a weapon.
Search warrants were obtained for the car and room and authorities later discovered over 14.5 pounds of marijuana, three grams of cocaine and $28,000 in cash.
