Boil water order lifted for Falcon Highlands residents

FALCON HIGHLANDS, Colo. — The boil water order issued to residents in Falcon Highlands has been lifted.

Officials have confirmed that test results came back negative for bacteria on Wednesday.

As a precaution, the district has advised residents to boil water before using it.

The problem has affected nearly 350 homes and 30 businesses.

According to officials, the district’s water system lost pressure on Sunday due to an electrical – mechanical failure in the water infrastructure system. The well pumps did not turn on when the water tank was running low; since then, the district has since manually started the well pumps and begun the process of re-filling the tank.

The district is investigating the situation and taking steps to correct the failure, including upgrading its system with new hardware and software.

Additionally, Level 2 Temporary Water Use Restrictions have been enacted, meaning irrigation on commercial or residential property is strictly prohibited.
