Police warn Pueblo residents of yard work scammer

PUEBLO, Colo. — Police are warning residents of a scammer who has been going door-to-door scamming residents with fake yard work.

Pueblo Police Department has received calls of the suspect – a Hispanic man who appears to be in his 40s, driving a blue Ford Ranger pickup truck.

According to authorities, the suspect says he will do yard work for you and may even show a false business flyer to encourage you. He then asks for money upfront to buy materials to complete the job.

Police say that people have reported that the suspect may do light work and then leave but never return.

Victims of the scam could not provide authorities with a name, phone number or license plate.

Police urge the public to research information on the business before you make an agreement and to ask if the person is insured. You should never pay upfront.

If you have any information regarding the suspect’s identity, you are urged to submit an online tip here.
