Republican U.S. Senate candidate confident he can win

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Conservative favorite Darryl Glenn secured the Colorado Republican party’s nomination Tuesday night with 37 percent of the vote.

Glenn has served as an El Paso County commissioner for nearly 6 years and ran against 5 opponents for the Senate seat. He’s also been endorsed by Texas Senator Ted Cruz and former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

Commissioner Glenn is a relatively unknown candidate coming into the Senate race as the obvious underdog. But despite his challenge, he’s confident that he will earn your vote come November.

“I’m proud of the fact that I’m an unapologetic Christian, constitutional conservative, pro-life, Second Amendment American,” said Glenn.

A Colorado Springs native, retired Air Force lieutenant colonel and former city councilman, Glenn could soon add United States Senator to his long list of accomplishments.

“People want somebody that’s going to stand up there and fight,” he said. “Somebody that’s going to hold Mr. Bennet accountable for his terrible voting record.”

Colorado Democratic Senator Michael Bennet has vowed his support for the Iran nuclear deal and Obamacare — two things Glenn says are hurting Coloradans.

“Right now, the feedback that I’m getting from people across Colorado is they have a senator that’s not listening to them, that’s out of touch,” Glenn said.

Glenn raised less than $200,000 while campaigning and is going up against a well known incumbent with millions.

“We can run a well-financed campaign,” Glenn said. “We’ve already shown we have the formula to win and we’re going to focus on the issues and I believe we’re going to be extremely competitive and be able to win this thing.”

And come November — if the people do vote Glenn in — he’s prepared.

“First thing I’ll do is give glory to God,” he said. “Next thing I’ll do is have a staff meeting and memorialize all those promises and commitments we made on the campaign trail, set up performance measurements so that we can hold ourselves accountable because this is their office.”

Glenn also adds that his campaign will attempt to lead and unite starting with the people here in Colorado.
