Woman dead after car-motorcycle crash in Chaffee County

CHAFFEE COUNTY, Colo. — Colorado State Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that killed a woman on Saturday afternoon.

Officials responded to the collision around 1:17 p.m. on Colorado 285 at the intersection of Chaffee County Road 140.

According to police, a Mitsubishi Endeavor was proceeding from a stop sign westbound on Chaffee County Road 140 when a Harley Davidson traveling southbound on Colorado 285 swerved to the right to avoid the Mitsubishi.

The Mitsubishi stopped in the middle of the highway and the Harley rolled on its left side.

Both the driver and passenger of the Harley were ejected as it came to a rest in the southbound lane of the highway. The Mitsubishi was driven to the right shoulder of County Road 140.

The driver of the Mitsubishi was identified as Adrian Flores, 17, of Northglenn, Colorado. Flores and her two passengers were wearing seatbelts and were not injured. She was cited for careless driving that caused death.

The driver of the Harley Davidson was identified as Donald Vsetecka, 70, of Green Mountain Falls, Colorado. He was not wearing a helmet and was transported to a local hospital.

The motorcycle passenger – a 57-year-old woman from Green Mountain Falls – was pronounced dead on-scene. She was not wearing a helmet. Next-of-kin notification is pending.

Speed and alcohol / drugs are not factors in this crash, which remains under investigation at this time.
